چکیده

AbstmctDetection of the existence of a desired user is considered in this paper. We assume that the signal to noise ratio is high enough to ignore the effects of noise compared with those of the interference by other users. The inter-user interference and user signals are modeled by the Nakagami model. The observation model for this situation is proposed, the locally optimum test statistic is derived under the model, and the asymptotic performance of the test statistic is compared with that of the envelope detector. We show that the locally optimum detector has performance better than the conventional envelope detector. Keyuordslocally optimum detection, Nakagami fading

BER Performance of Antenna Array-Based Receiver using Multi-user Detection in a Multipath Channel

Antenna promises to provide significant increases in system capacity and performance in wireless systems. In this paper, a simplified, near-optimum array receiver is proposed, which is based on the angular gain of the spatial filter. This detection is then analyzed by calculating the exact error probability. The proposed model confirms the benefits of adaptive antennas in reducing the overall in...

Multiple Selection Diversity over Exponentially Correlated Nakagami-m Fading Channels in the Presence of Cochannel Interference

The system performances of selection combining over exponentially correlated Nakagami-m channels are analyzed in this paper. Selection diversity based on the signal to interference ratio (SIR) is very efficient technique that reduces fading and cochannel interference influence. Fading between diversity branches and between interferers is correlated and Nakagami-m distributed with exponential co...

A Unified Approach to BER Analysis of Synchronous Downlink CDMA Systems with Random Signature Sequences in Fading Channels with Known Channel Phase

A detailed analysis of the multiple access interference (MAI) for synchronous downlink CDMA systems is carried out for BPSK signals with random signature sequences in Nakagami-m fading environment with known channel phase. This analysis presents a unified approach as Nakagami-m fading is a general fading distribution that includes the Rayleigh, the one-sided Gaussian, the Nakagami-q, and the Ri...

The Effect of Channel Coding Rate on the Resistance of Direct-sequence Spread-spectrum Communication Systems to Narrow-band Interference

In this paper, optimum code rates for a number of channel codes which are used in the coded direct-sequence spreadspectrum (DS-SS) and coded code-division multiple-access (CDMA) communication systems operating in the presence of narrow-band interference (NBI) are investigated. The criteria in obtaining the optimum code rates is based on maximum tolerable NBI power to signal power ratio. First, ...

Power Control and Multiuser Diversity for the Distributed Cognitive Uplink

This paper studies optimum power control and sum-rate scaling laws for the distributed cognitive uplink. It is first shown that the optimum distributed power control policy is in the form of a threshold based water-filling power control. Each secondary user executes the derived power control policy in a distributed fashion by using local knowledge of its direct and interference channel gains su...
